This cult item from Benefit has long been a staple for me. A complex pewter, Skinny Jeans has glorious hints of gunmetal, grey, olive, antique gold and taupe, plus a sprinkling of colourful micro-shimmer – minuscule and barely discernible, except under strong lighting – for subtle twinkle.
I love it as a base for smokey eyes and used it often with Fasio Gradation Deep Eyes in I-8 and Kosé Visée Blackish Forming Eyes in B-3. It also pairs nicely with Dior Argentic and the pewter shade in Jill Stuart Seductive Eyes in Sensual Fairy. I use this intense cream shadow very often with Lancome’s iconic Erika F (another complex shade like Skinny Jeans, only greener in tone) too.
Like Shiseido Hydro Powder Eye Shadows, Benefit Creaseless Creams spread very well and is water/smudgeproof. However, they feel creamier and firmer than the former – Hydro Powders are somewhat softer and airier. I’d say that the texture of the Creaseless Creams is more similar to that of MAC Paint Pots.
I have only one swatch photo of Skinny Jeans but Jojoba has lovely shots of this beautiful colour, as well as good comparisons with other similar shades.
I bought my pot of Skinny Jeans so long ago that I’ve forgotten how much I’d paid for it! :P I’m certain it costs more than S$30 though (S$32?). And you know, when you say the words ‘skinny jeans’ to me now, I don’t think of apparel any more – I would picture this cream shadow instead! :D
